- How long is “forever”?
- You think it even exists?
- Of course it does! Everybody around repeats this — “forever youth”, “together forever”, “forever memories”, “forever results”, “forever life”. Like it’s a sort of spell. Oh! Some even guarantee it, I saw it on TV.
- But the way you’ve asked about it already denies the term itself. “Forever” isn’t supposed to have length, “forever” supposed to identify eternity which has no boundaries as you may know. By asking it this way you’ve already gave up even an opportunity of everlasting.
- No way! Don’t tell me like i just changed the nature of things & erased any chances for the infinity with one slip of my stupid tongue?? (i felt really scared that moment & my fear was pouring out of my eyes wide open)
- Of course you didn’t, silly. But. Maybe you simply made it clear enough, as your question is partially the answer. (And some may need to wake up from delusions, — he murmured, like referring to himself)
- (i smiled hesitantly) You are you, mysterious as usual. Okay. I’ll correct myself, so give you no chances to avoid the direct answer. You nerd, by the way! (i stuck my tongue out at him) What is forever?
- Okay. My apologies. (he bowed his head regretting, dramatic pause. I was intrigued & even leaned forward to him, holding my breath & waiting for the biggest mystery to be revealed. He continued)
- My apologies, cause I have to correct you too. It is not me being nerd, but it is about the way of requesting — the way you formulate it determines the result. (his serious quicksilver eyes met mine & then he smiled smugly. I kept staring at him for another dozen of seconds, speechless, then I realized what just happened)
- You, you…! You are a snob! (but my face started treacherously turn red & I preferred to turn away from him, pretending like i was checking something in the grass by my shoes. He weightlessly touched my hand with the tips of his fingers, I mostly knew it as i sensed the warmth spreading through my limb, other than literally felt the touch. I loved that warmth. Next moment he attracted me into his arms and i surrendered. Always did)
- The only proven “forever” i know is that everything ends. For the most part any living creature equates “forever” to the lifespan. Most part their own imaginary lifespan, whatever it’s duration would be, which is always unknown. But all the things, animate or inanimate, have their own lifetime. It brings us to the point that there’s endless field of different forevers, concluded inside of each other. You follow my line? (I shortly nodded) Forever of the insect, who’s lasting only 1 day, will be concluded into forever of someone lasting longer than that. For example human, lasting 29220 days, will include 29220 different forevers of that insect. Those loops & intertwinings are countless if we consider the entire existence. Then the Universe itself includes all the forevers of all the humans & things ever living there, while being alive itself. This is the idea. And then the global nothingness includes all that together, bringing us back to the starting point— the only real forever is nothing. The beginning & the end at the same moment.
- It sounds huge. Like Space.
- It is Space. Space of alternatives. Any answer is correct, any truth is always absolute. At least for the speaker, and that what makes it real. But it’s completely different story..
- I’d love to hear that one too.
- I know (he smiled, hugging me, that’s how we kept seating in silence)
